Internship Opportunities

Position Title: Administration - Board of Directors Intern

The Board of Directors is responsible for overseeing the general direction of MIC.  It comprises community members who are leaders in their fields and have a commitment to promoting international affairs in Minnesota. These individuals are responsible for fiduciary oversight and governance.  They also provide strong leadership in fundraising.  Working with the Board of Directors is an exciting opportunity to meet influential community members and professionals who share the goal of continuing MIC's mission. 

Supervisor: Board Coordinator

Responsibilities/Duties:

To assist the Board Coordinator in maintaining positive and fruitful relationships with board members in the following areas:

  • Communicate with board members by phone, mail or email as needed

  • Update and organize data and files

  • Work on Board projects such as the Board Handbook

  • Research topics being addressed in board committees

  • Attend board meetings according to personal availability

  • May work on event planning for unique Board events such as receptions or reunions
  • May work on technology-related research and projects

Qualifications:

Since the Board Coordinator is only in the office 1-2 days per week, the Board of Directors Intern must be self motivated and comfortable communicating with an off-site supervisor.  In addition, the intern must also:

  • Be detail-oriented
  • Enjoy working on individual and long-term projects
  • Possess strong organizational skills and have the ability to prioritize
  • Be professional and punctual
  • An interest in and aptitude with technology is helpful, but not required
