Minnesota International Center - A World Affairs Council
Types of Discussion Groups

Great Decisions groups are conducted in several ways, although promoting discussion of the topic is central to the meeting’s format.  With the assistance of their leader or organizer, groups choose which topic they will discuss and schedule a meeting time and place.  They also decide how to conduct their meetings.  Some groups read and then discuss the relevant article from the Great Decisions Briefing Book on the topic they have chosen.  Other groups supplement this reading by showing a segment of the DVD that pertains to this topic or they might invite a speaker from MIC’s Speakers Directory to address their group, followed by discussion.  Discussions take place in schools, libraries, senior learning programs, retirement facilities, colleges, community education programs, homes, churches and other venues.
