World Affairs FAQ

Can I use a membership events voucher for lunches or breakfasts?
No, membership event vouchers cannot be used for events that include meals.

If I am attending an MIC luncheon and have dietary restrictions, what do I do?
Please call 612.625.4421 and speak to the event registrar, and let us know what your dietary needs are.  We are happy to work with the caterers to accommodate your needs, but we need to know about them in advance.

Why aren’t all MIC events free?
As MIC does not own event facilities, we need to rent all of our lecture halls, luncheon facilities and pay for catering and audio/visual.  Sometimes we are able to get grant funding for events to cover the overhead, and when that is possible, we offer the event free to guests.

Do I have to pre-register for events or can I walk in?
For luncheons/breakfasts you must pre-register, as we must order meals for you.  For evening events when catering is not an issue, you’re welcome to walk in (provided the event is not sold out).

Where should I park when I attend events?
Please visit the venue web link for the event to see which parking facility is most appropriate.

If I work for a company that is a corporate member of MIC, does that mean that I get the member rate for general public events?
Yes!  We’d love to see you at as many events as you would like to attend.  Just let us know when you register.

Can I or the company I represent reserve an entire table for a luncheon?
As long as we have space available, sure!  Just let us know when you call to register.

Can I volunteer at events?
Sometimes we need help with set up and with handing out flyers.  Volunteering is a membership benefit.

How do I become a special events intern?

Would MIC be interested in cosponsoring events with my organization?
Potentially.  Cosponsored events are considered on a case-by-case basis.  If the event seems to fit with our mission, and we have enough lead time, chances are we would be interested.

What does event co-sponsorship entail?
To MIC, event co-sponsorship is an exchange of publicity, and does not include an exchange of cash.

I want to register a team for WorldQuest – what do I do?
You can register for WorldQuest here.

How can my company donate prizes for WorldQuest?
To donate a prize for WorldQuest 2008 download and mail a donation form or fill out our online form.
