For the past six years, MIC has held WorldQuest International Trivia Competitions to support its International Classroom Connection program, which brings international speakers into K-12 classrooms throughout the state.  The event has been open to the general public, but has also included several high school teams.

This year, we are pleased to offer the event separately for high school teams; each team comprising four members who pool their knowledge to confer and answer multiple choice questions about flags and capitals, people in the news, world geography and current events.

This Year's Prizes:

First place prize: Four scholarships for qualifying students and their sponsor to represent Minnesota at the National Academic WorldQuest in Washington D.C.,

on April 5, 2008.

Second place prize:  Team invited by Minnesota Public Radio to sit in on an hour of "All Things Considered", followed by a tour of MPR's Headquarters.

Team Spirit prize: Bowling for 5 plus $25 for food and drinks at Bryant Lake Bowl

Various door prizes (to include Minnesota Youth Symphony tickets, Timberwolves tickets, Gopher men's basketball tickets) and a light lunch will also be provided.  This event is open to all Minnesota high schools, but space is limited.

Who Can Play?
This event is open to all Minnesota high schools, but space is limited so be sure to register as soon as possible.

Recruit Your Student Team
The selection method of the four team members is up to each high school.  Other states have found student clubs, such as Youth in Government, AFS, Debate, Model United Nations, Boys and Girls State and Language clubs, to be good sources of student interest.
